I looked at James. "Fucking idiot," I muttered under my breath. He must have heard me as he glanced at me with a stony look.
He shifted, sliding away. "So who are you?" He hissed.
"Look just be cool. As far as you're concerned I'm David and I always have been."
He leaned over, "But you're not. I saw you go into him. I don't now how the fuck you did it, but you're not him."
I looked over, trying not to lose my cool. "You weren't meant to see that," I whispered. "Seriously he's fine. Just be cool with it OK?"
His eyes narrowed. "Seriously? You invade my friends body and expect me to be cool about it?"
He grabbed me, putting me in a head lock. "What the fuck are you doing man?" I gasped.
"Get out of him, you son of a bitch." I struggled trying to break free, but he had the upper hand.
"I can't, not yet. I have to stay here for another twenty-four hours."
"I don't believe you," he growled and tightened his grip.
"It's true," I lied, gasping for air. He released me and pushed me away.
"I don't want to hurt David," he sighed.
I cursed under my breath, how could I have been so careless? I was sure David was alone in the house. I knocked on the door and when he answered I'd tackled him to the ground. He'd struggled for a moment, but the sedative soon took hold and he slumped in my arms.
Carrying him into a bedroom I started to undress him. He had good connections and he played on the football team, that's what held my interest. I pulled off my college shirt and sweat pants; they helped me blend into the rest of the students on campus.
I started to get inside David; down into his legs and torso. He wasn't big, but had a nice defined physique like a runner or swimmer.
Working my arms down into his gave me a tingle of excitement, something reflected in my acquired manhood. I pushed my head into his back. It was then I heard James, a dull yell. As quick as I could I pushed all the way in and rolled into my back.
I looked up at James through David's eyes. He was standing at the door, paled with his mouth open. "What the FUCK just happened?"
"What are you talking about?" I retorted. "I--I was just going to take a shower." David's memories weren't clear, I recognised his face but still had no idea who he was or what he was doing there.
"I just saw something climbing inside you," he said swallowing hard.
This was going to be awkward, I thought to myself. "Dude, you must have been seeing things," I blurted out.
"I know what I saw!"
I started to pull on David's clothes. "You're nuts," I replied. "Listen to yourself. Someone got inside me?" I snorted.
He blinked rubbing his eyes, "Yeah, that's what I saw. Wasn't you going to shower?"
"Changed my mind," I groaned barging past him. I needed time to assimilate David's memory so I could handle his problem.
In the kitchen I searched the cupboards for a glass. From the door he watched me, I was doing a shit job of being David. Fumbling around the place, it was obvious I had no idea where anything was.
"Who, or what are you?" James demanded.
"I'm David you idiot," I replied. Some distant memory told me this was David's friend.
I poured myself a glass of juice from the fridge. "No, you're defiantly not David. He always drinks from the carton. Says it saves washing up."
I finished the juice. Leaning with both hands on the counter and sagged. There was nothing I could do about this. I'd been caught.
"Look--"
"James," he added.
"James, I can't move--not yet. If you hadn't seen me, you'd be none the wiser," I explained.
"What the fuck are you talking about? You don't even know my name!"
"It takes a while--before I start to remember." I could see that he didn't trust me. "James, I'm here for a while--looking like David. Let's not make things difficult. I don't want to fuck up his life or anything, it's just--"
"Just what?"
"I'm trying to get to someone else, David's just--"
"What?"
I sighed, there was no nice way to say it. "He's just a stepping stone to get to this other guy."
"Who?"
"Ryan Pecosky."
James looked at me. "Yeah I know him. He's on David's football team," he said and leaned back whistling through his teeth.
I shrugged and realised it's what David would have done. His memories were becoming clear. James had been David's friend for as long as he could remember.
"So if I help you, you'll leave David?" He asked.
I nodded. "Come on," I said. "We normally go to the park in the afternoon." He gave me a sidelong look. "David's memories are filtering through."
"All of them?"
"Just when I need them," I replied. He blushed and pulled at his top. "Let's go."
He followed me into the park. I told him to wait by the wall and I got a couple of cans of beer from the shop across way. "Thanks," he said taking one.
We sat there in silence, sipping the beer. We watched a girl go into the shop, David's persona guided me towards her ass. It was tight and round, supported by her skin tight stockings. I murmured something appreciatively and James grunted.
I pulled out David's phone and unlocked it, holding it at arms length I went to take a picture. James eyes glanced at his image and his expression soured. "Fuck sake Jay, cheer up," I joked, and took the picture uploading it to Instagram.
The door to the shop opened, and the same girl walked out. "Ouch, I thought they stopped selling horse meat," I quipped.
James laughed and stopped suddenly. "That's the sort of thing David would say."
"Yeah," I replied with a sniff--another one of David's annoying habits.
"He does that sniffing thing as well."
"You and David go back a long way," I said.
"We grew up together, closest thing I have to a brother."
Of course I knew that already. "I've not been entirely truthful Jay." He looked at me and his expression darkened. "I can get out of David whenever I want. I just wanted to prove to you that I could be David."
He said nothing, leaning on his knees. "But you want to get into Pecosky?"
"Yeah."
He looked up at me. "Then do it through me. David won't get a chance to see Pecosky until school. But I know him as well."
I searched through David's memories, as far as he knew James didn't know him at all. "How do you know him?" I asked.
James got to his feet and paced up and down for a moment. He crouched in front of me. "Will David remember any of this?"
I shook my head, "Nothing."
He looked up and down the street--it was quiet. Taking a large gulp of beer he told me. "We've been seeing each other. Secret like."
My mind reeled, this wasn't in my plan. James was going out with Ryan? "Your gay? Fuck, David didn't have a clue."
"Bi. It's not something I shout about."
"David would want to know, and it wouldn't change anything between you guys. Believe me I know."
His face brightened. "Really? I've always been scared to tell him."
"He'd be cool with it," I reassured him.
"Does it hurt?"
"What?" I asked.
"When you get inside someone--does it hurt them?"
"No, just a feeling of tightness."
He grabbed my arm. "Come on, I want you out of David."
We went back to the house. James started to treat me more like his friend, and he joked about their holiday as if he was talking to David. I could see why they'd been friends for such a long time.
Back at the house James slumped on the sofa. "So how does this shit work," he asked.
I started to pull off David's clothes. "Well, you have to be naked," I replied removing the last of the clothes. Jason surveyed his friend for a moment then started to remove his own clothes.
I was taking a risk. James was stronger than David and bigger. "What are you waiting for?" He asked.
This felt strange, I'd never had someone watching me before. Laying on the carpeted floor I started to writhe, moments later I was pulling myself free of David's frame.
I got to my feet, shivering. James looked me up and down, "You don't have a bad body. Why do you do it?"
"Because--"
A knot formed in my throat as I swallowed. "Because I don't have anyone myself."
James looked surprised. "Have you tried making friends?"
"It's hard," I whispered.
"So this is the easy way out huh? You know Ryan is a bit of a jerk at school."
I tipped my head. "A jerk?"
"Yeah," he sniggered. "I thought you'd done your homework?" He looked over at David. "He's going to be OK right?"
"Be out for another half hour," I replied, and watched as James pulled David's clothes back on his unconscious friend. When he'd finished he easily lifted him onto the couch.
"Ok, you want me on the floor?"
I nodded. "You're ok with this?"
"Yeah, we made an agreement," he told me as he laid face down.
Once again I pushed into someone new. James groaned and cursed as I pushed in deeper. I twisted and forced myself inside.
I blinked, and opened my eyes. Turning over I was instantly aware of James's larger frame. Sitting up I could see David, propped up with his head back.
After pulling on James's clothes, I went to the kitchen for some beers and waited. Ten minutes later I heard some noises. I ambled back, David had come around and was rubbing his head. "You OK mate? I got you a beer."
He took it with thanks, took a large chug. "Shit, have I been here all day?"
"Pretty much," I told him. "You've been flaked out all morning and I've been playing some games." I rubbed at my head, James's memories where coming through--quicker than normal. I sat down and took another swig from the bottle. I tapped away at James's mobile, found Ryan's number and sent him and message *You around buddy?* It didn't take long to get a reply.
"Rachel?" David asked.
I chuckled knowing James's secret now. "Yeah it's Rachel. I better shoot, you know what she's like."
David nodded. "See you tomorrow, I'll text you."
He saw me to the door and I left to meet Ryan. My next jump, and opportunity to make Ryan less of a jerk at school. I guess I owed it to the real James for helping me out.
