The Boost - Part 1
Despite his sunken chest and scrawny arms, his ex-girlfriend had always insisted that she liked "skinny boys". Then again, she always claimed to to like his reddish-brown hair and pale complexion, right up until the day she dumped him for a tall, blond, tanned surfer who looked like he had just stepped off an Abercrombie bag, only he was in color.
Jay had discovered one problem with taking up exercise in his mid-twenties was that he had never built up much endurance. Even though he made a concerted effort to get up early each morning to come to the health club before work, he found that his energy waned quickly once he got there. He would plod along on the treadmill for a while before he grew winded and pooped out, sometimes venturing toward the weight machines in a futile attempt to beef up his twig-thin limbs but barely working up enough of a sweat to merit a shower. It didn't do his already low self-esteem much good to start off each day surrounded by the extremely buff dudes who populated the place. Seriously, every guy here looked so jacked, Jay wondered if there was something in the water or a radiation leak.
One morning, after a particularly unproductive session, Jay was on his way toward the exit, fondly pondering the sausage and egg biscuit he planned to buy on his way to the office, when he heard the whiz of a blender echoing his direction from the gym's juice bar. Jay realized that he was not helping to reach his fitness goals by stuffing his face with a pile of grease every morning, so he spun around and headed back to grab himself a smoothie.

Sam’s Adventure: Time Out
Read the prior part: Sam's Adventure: Remodeled
The movie on the screen had droned on and on. “Sam was this, Sam was that until finally Sam became a model, etc. etc. etc.” It was all such BS and drivel. Couldn’t the writer come up with anything better? Sure the movie was pure fantasy but how was such a boring story line supposed to interest anybody? The only thing worth watching had been the transformation. Really?
“If I were that Sam I would want out of my life for sure.”
Unlike his fictitious counterpart, Sam was a confident great looking athletic individual who was the CEO of the company he had founded after college (with help from Giles Wickes but that is another story) and as such had major responsibilities to many people.
Others envied him for his looks and all the things they supposed he could have and do being a wealthy individual but they had no idea what it was really like to have so much pressure on such young shoulders. He was happy sure but, if he could, he would like just one day of unrestrained fun with nobody judging him or watching over his shoulder, to be a free spirit, unconstrained by normal conventions, demands, and expectations others had of him but that wish was as unlikely to happen for him as the transformation had been in the movie.
He had a very important meeting tomorrow and had called a preliminary run-through with the senior members of his staff.
“Come to order people. Let’s get this meeting underway so we can finalize our presentation to our potential new investor.” One by one the managers offered their ideas until it was time for Karl to present his thoughts on wooing the investor but Sam was particularly stressed and was buying none of what Karl was saying. Angry, Sam dismissed the rest of the staff calmly, telling Karl to stay. As soon as he was alone with Karl he snapped.
“That is a bunch of fucking shit, Karl. Can’t you do any better than that? You’re supposed to be the senior manager in charge of investment and this is the best you can give me?” The anger flowed out of him, something very few people ever saw from the normally affable CEO. “Go do your homework man. If I heard what you just told me I would walk away, no make that run away from any further dealings with this company, not invest in it. You have until tomorrow morning at 10.” Karl gathered up his papers and hurriedly left. Sam just sat there wondering if he had a staff of total idiots working for him. He needed to calm down and relax but that luxury would have to wait until after tomorrow’s meeting. He rose to go back to his office but when he stepped from the conference room to the corridor….

Seanday Lunch: Working Partnerships
"Fuck it, where's Dave?" I asked Tony.
"Saw him head upstairs a while back," Tony replied taking a swig of his beer.
"Com'n," I smirked, dragging Tony behind me. Sure enough, Dave was out like a light on the bed. I grabbed his shoulders and shook him. "WAKE UP!" I yelled, but he remained out cold.
"Jeez, what's he been drinking?"
"Fuck knows, but the drink I spiked worked."

Seanday Charade, Grant's Friend
I walked into the gym and rolled my eyes at the scene in front of me. With a sigh, I decided to continue the charade just to see how far they'd take it.
"Ray, Tommy, Grant," I said nodding to each of the guys in front of me. "Thought you didn't like this place Ray."
"Grant asked me to drop over, so I thought I'd give it a second chance," he told me. I looked at his impressive body, thick heavy muscle wrapped up in a skin that contrasted perfectly against the yellow tank he was wearing.
"So what are you doing here?" asked Tommy licking his lip.
Tommy was equally as impressive, although younger than Ray by a couple of years.
"Heard Grant was at the gym, thought I'd stop by." Grant looked nervous, but when he heard me mention his name a smile burst across his face.

The Ride
You really get to know someone on a long drive, much more than on a plane ride when the person next to you tends to watch a movie or read a book or pretends to sleep in order to avoid contact, and the whole trip is over in a few hours. Trains used to be my travel option of choice. You could spend days getting acquainted, and the private sleeping cars were perfect for my purposes. But times change, and I have adapted.
If there's one thing shape-shifters know, it's how to adapt.
Some people feel that hitchhiking is just too dangerous, and that you can never be sure what kind of person you're riding with.
That's why it's valuable to be able to read your companion's mind.
And as for being dangerous...well, I have yet to encounter anyone who I couldn't handle.
One of the perks of being able to change your appearance at will when you're hitchhiking is that you can tailor your image for maximum appeal to those most likely to offer you a lift. I had been wandering the midwest for the past six months and was yearning to see the ocean again, so I began thumbing my way westward. To improve my odds, I very rarely pose as a man. Even the meekest, most harmless looking nerd can be perceived as a potential serial killer when standing alone on the dusty gravel shoulder on a bleak Nebraska afternoon. Perhaps it's unfair, but I have also discovered that drivers also assume that a man should be able to figure his own way out of whatever jam he finds himself in without anyone else's help. That's why, when I'm traveling, I generally choose to look female.
At least to start.

Sam’s Adventure: Remodeled
Sam was a decent looking young man with a quick wit, above average intelligence, and a generous heart. Unfortunately instead of appreciating what he had, he instead concentrated only on what he perceived to be his faults: he was too short, not muscular enough, not rugged enough, and the list went on and on. In short, he thought any man alive was better than him.
If he could he would have given everything to be any man but who he was. And so he would go to sleep at night always dreaming of men he envied, of men he yearned to be and always destined to be disappointed that his dreams would not come true.
Morning always came but bright sunshine neither penetrated into the darkness of his room nor indeed into his very soul. He isolated himself in the darkness, never feeling worthy enough to face the world outside. So, obsessed with his shortcomings, he was a tortured soul living in the agony of a self-made purgatory, always comparing himself to the models, movie stars, and muscled men he worshipped from afar.

Seanday Shorts: Liquid Soul
It had been a good haul, two jocks both with clean backstories. A great setup in the campus grounds--they shared a dorm in one of the largest blocks.
I made a FaceTime call. "Hey look who I picked up a few minutes ago; Tony Shultz and Dan McKenzie." I shifted the camera to show the two sleeping jocks.
"How the hell did you get them? They're like the two top players in the football team."
I grinned at the camera. "These guys have a lot of power and influence, even if they don't know it yet. We've got a chance to change things, get followers, and make that social army we've always talked about."

Seanday Request: The Alpha Card
Story requested by chat room @Guest 67
I gazed at the guy taking the picture, lips slightly parted giving that stoned look David always had. I'd taken him a few hours earlier as he stumbled into the restroom--made him into a suit. Didn't take long to slip inside him--hardly a challenge.
The barman handed back the phone. "Cheers mate," Tony chirped looking over the top of his mirrored sunglasses.
"Take these before I drink them," I slurred holding out the bottles to Tony and Steve, who bumped into me as he got to his feet. "Hey watch out you muppet."
Steve pushed me again, "Shut up," he yelled and snatched the bottle from my hand.
I scowled at him. David's body felt awkward as I scratched his fair hair. He was definitely the ugly duckling of the group and almost everyone picked on him.
