Mirror, Mirror on the wall….
Once upon a time, as all tales must start, in a land far, far away lived a very handsome prince. He was beloved by all in his kingdom for he was pure of heart and noble of soul. Then one day, as fate would have it, he happened upon a magic gilded mirror. Bewitched by the mirror he became obsessed with his own image. The prince hung the mirror in a secret alcove of his room where he would gaze upon his prize for endless hours. The man staring back at him was truly male beauty personified, his noble uncorrupted soul shining bright as the noon day sun. Day after day the prince would stare into the mirror and it in turn would tell him he was the handsomest of all. Alas he was seduced by the mirror’s malicious need to consume all things pure and soon what once was noble turned cold with narcissism as the mirror devoured his soul. His reflection was no less beautiful than before but no longer did it shine brightly. He became isolated from the very people who loved him so dearly and he found himself alone in his castle, wanting nothing more than to forever gaze upon himself in the mirror. His realm became a joyless place to the people without him. Having succeeded in destroying the noble prince, the mirror became restless to find another pure soul it could seduce. It searched through countless realms and times until…
The loud buzzing of the alarm clock abruptly woke me from a most pleasant dream. The curse of the working class, I chuckled to myself. Actually I enjoy my job. I’m not necessarily a very outgoing person but I do love interacting with people, finding out about their lives and helping to improve them where I can. I would say the one thing I have learned from life is that its best to aid my fellow human beings where possible and keep a positive outlook. Hence I usually have a smile on my face most of the time.
I caught a glimpse of myself when I was preparing to go to work. As always the mirror reflected the image of the weathered man I had become. I have no regrets and I did not mind seeing the look of experience my visage presented back to me. I got quite the shock when I entered the den: hanging on my wall was a beautiful gilded mirror that had never been there before. Now where did that come from?
“Come closer, Henry. No need to fear.” I could have sworn the mirror was speaking to me but mirrors can’t talk. Curious, I cautiously approached.
Just an old mirror, showing the same old image as always. I started to turn away when the image started to shimmer and change. I could only stand there transfixed as years melted away, the face becoming taut and smooth. A coating of sexy dark stubble appeared on the heretofore clean shaven face. The eyes changed from hazel to a translucent blue while the bald pate blossomed with thick black hair. I could only imagine what the rest of the body would look like and I was getting rather worked up thinking about that. Tentatively I reached towards the mirror, the reflection reaching back as if it wanted to consume me.
“This could be you, Henry. Wouldn’t you like that? Just say yes Henry.” There was that alluring voice again. I had the strangest feeling that something was searching my mind for some reason.
I had no explanation for how the image in the mirror had become the stuff most men would give everything to be. My gut had a feeling that there was more to this offer than what I heard. I must be dreaming. This can’t be real. Mirrors don’t talk and they sure as hell don’t concoct elaborate body swapping schemes. I’ll be late for work. I shrugged, passing the whole thing off as the product of my imagination. The image in the mirror faded as though some unseen light source had dimmed. Suddenly a bolt of light flashed from the mirror striking me straight on.
The next thing I knew I found myself in a very strange room. The décor was very much like something I would expect in one of those fairy tale castles I had read about in Cinderella and Snow White.
A slight breeze moved a curtain revealing a man concentrating intently on his reflection in a mirror, a mirror that looked very much like the one I had seen in my den. He seemed oblivious to his surroundings including my intrusion into his room. I can’t say I blame him for he cut a very striking figure. He was clad from head to toe in tight black leather which was extremely sexy on what I could only surmise was a very well-muscled slim physique. I was looking at his back so I had no idea what he would look like if he turned around but if it was even only half as good as what I could see he would be one extremely handsome man. Of course what else would I expect? After all one must have the charming prince to go with the fairy tale castle.
Some unseen force started to pull me closer to the man. Closer… closer… until finally our bodies touched and I was passing through his clothes and flesh, our bodies merging, fusing together to become one entity. This can’t be happening. And yet I could not deny the sensations I was experiencing.
I was now enveloped in the tightness of the leather clothing, boots covering my feet and legs to just below my knees. The pants felt molded to my legs while the shirt I now wore was softer than anything I had ever had on my body before. I was definitely a bit taller and from how the pants hugged my crotch I would say bigger where it counts as well. Strangest of all, I was alone in this body as if it had been soulless until I had been drawn into it.
I gazed into the mirror before me, awed by what I saw reflected. A darkly brooding man met my eyes: the man I had seen earlier in the mirror in my den albeit dressed differently. A silver chain with an odd pendant hung around my neck, nestled in the dark chest hair I now possessed. I was, to put it bluntly, the total stud package.
“You are now Prince Killian, Henry. A very rich and handsome ruler. Give in and all this can be yours eternally.” The mirror was once again trying to seduce me by actually putting me into the body I had earlier rejected. Something was trying to get into my mind, to corrupt me for some malevolent purpose. I found myself struggling not to succumb to the temptation of power, wealth, and beauty, to surrender my own existence. I fought the intruder with every ounce of strength I possessed for what seemed like eons until I finally pushed the force from me. A loud crack echoed throughout the chamber as the mirror shattered into many pieces and vanished. I had won but at what price? Much to my chagrin, I realized with the mirror gone that there would be no going back to my own life. I would forever remain Prince Killian. Why had the mirror tried so hard to tempt me?
Alien thoughts began to penetrate into my consciousness, revealing the life and downfall of Killian to me. Once he had been a benevolent ruler who had been seduced by the mirror and had thus met a fate worse than death. Noise wafted in through the open window, distracting my thoughts and bringing me back to my new reality. A throng of people was gathering below in the courtyard chanting my name. They must somehow hope their prince would return to them from his self-imposed exile. I couldn’t disappoint them. It was my duty to care for my people and help them. A mighty roar arose from the people when I emerged from the castle door.
All in all I had nothing to complain about. True I was no longer living my old life but I could bring happiness to my realm. I had a new purpose to my life and I resolved to live it to the fullest. I was the best of both the prince and myself inside nor was I going to have any trouble getting used to my most excellent body. I had no idea what the future might bring but perhaps I would meet someone with whom to share my life and love. Anything can happen when you stay open to the possibility.
And as all tales must end, I could only hope we would live happily ever after.
Nice work Bill.
