Against the Rules

“Wow! Wicked cool!” said Jared, looking up at the quarterback of the team, Kevin Heigel.

“Nah, man,” said Skylar, one of the other players, “This just doesn’t seem right, man. I mean, I know he looks like Kevin, and he sounds like Kevin – and yeah, I’ll admit it, he’s been playing just as good as Kevin does, if not even a little bit better… But I dunno, man! It’s just weird! And why didn’t you, like, tell us about this sooner?”

“I’m sorry, Skylar,” said the quarterback, “It’s just that when the real Kevin broke his leg, we had to think of something so that he could keep playing, and this suit was the best thing we could think of.”

“But Coach!” said one of the other players, “You’re like 40 and Kevin is only 17. Isn’t that, like, against the rules for us to have our own coach playing on our team…?”

“Guys, guys!” said Coach Walker, “Now come on! I’ve been wearing this suit of Kevin for the past two weeks now, and not one of you has noticed. Do you really think we have anything to worry about? And in about another two to four weeks, you’ll have the real Kevin back, and I’ll go back to being Coach Walker. Are we good?”

The team gathered around Coach Walker and examined the suit in detail, feeling a bit hesitant now that they all knew it was their Coach standing there inside of their quarterback’s body.

“Yeah,” Skylar finally said, “We good, Coach. Uh, well I guess I should call you Kevin now huh, bro?”

“Thanks, Sky!” Coach Williams said, acting a bit more like Kevin now, “Now let’s get back out there for the second half of the game and kick some ass!”

  1. Like the idea, but I think it would have been better if it had not been the coach. Maybe Kevin's little brother.
