Honestly, Officer

"Don't even think about pulling anything tricky, Graves," said Officer Clark, "We're on to you."

"Honestly, Officer, I don't know what you're talking about!" said the handcuffed teenager, "I told you, my name is Lucas White, I live at 11272 DeLand Avenue, I go to Wells High School, and my parents are Linda and Marcus White. I don't know who this 'Javon Graves' guy is, but I'm not him! Honestly, sir!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's cut the crap, Graves," said Officer Clark, "I know you happen to look like 'Lucas White' at the moment, but we happen to have the real Lucas White at the station now, and he's told us everything -- how you approached him behind the school, morphing yourself into an exact duplicate of him, and then knocked him out. Probably thought you'd get pretty far before we caught on to you, didn't ya? Just give it up, Graves."

"No, Officer! Honestly, I swear! That's not what happened!"

"Now listen here," said Officer Clark, forcefully pushing the teenager up against the cop car, "I'm not gonna play your little games, ya hear? The kid told us everything we need to know, we've got confirmed identity from the parents. Now if you wanna make it easy for yourself, I'd morph back to the 6'4" African-American male that we've got pictured on your mugshot before we get back to the station. If you wanna go back in wearing this body, that's fine too. But we know who's on the inside, got it?"

Lucas was utterly confused but helpless but to do anything the officer asked of him. He remembered being approached by a tough-looking black guy behind the school this afternoon, but couldn't remember much else before everything went blank.

"I've got to talk to my parents!" Lucas said as he was being pushed into the back of the car.

"Graves," said Officer Clark, "For the last time! Mr. and Mrs. White and their son, Lucas White, do not want anything to do with you and are going to be very pleased to see that you've been captured and are being taken back to the County Jail where you belong. And if you ever go near that family again and pretend to be their son, I swear to god..."

Lucas placed his head in his handcuffed hands. As he did so, he noticed that they were getting larger and darker and rougher right in front of his eyes.

"Oh shit!" he thought, catching a glimpse of himself in the rear-view mirror. His features were grotesquely melting and reconfiguring themselves, becoming those of a 43-year-old convicted felon.

"That's it, Graves," said Officer Clark, "There's that handsome mug of yours!"

"But I'm not --"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," said Officer Clark, slamming the sliding plexiglass window shut, "Just try to keep it quiet back there until we get back to the station, huh Graves?"

  1. This is great! I love how it unfolds and would love to read the other side of the story, with Graves as Lucas in the police station.
