"Hey, man --" I said, coming around the corner of the bathroom, "Whoa! Hey, nice face! I like it! It's very masculine -- and it goes really well with that body!""You like it?" said Josh, my roommate, "Good. I just wanted to change things up a little bit, you know?"
"Yeah," I said, "I mean it's really cool! I wish you hadn't started shaving, though. I think you might look nice with a little bit of scruff now."
"No problem," he said, instantly growing the stubble back that he had just shaved off, "Better?"
"Better," I said, "But now I don't know about the voice. I mean, it sounded good with your old face but it, like, doesn't match with this one."
"OK," he said, clearing his throat, "How about this one?"
His voice was now very deep and gravelly.
"I dunno," I said, "Sounds too old for you. And I think it's too deep, too."
"Oh," he said with a smirk, "So maybe something like this would be better?"
I laughed. He had switched his voice to something very high-pitched and feminine, almost stereotypically gay.
"Stop it!" I said, still laughing, "Just try something normal, dude!"
"OK, fine," he said, switching his voice to a nice, smooth baritone with hint of a Texas drawl to it, "You okay with this one?"
"Oh, Josh!" I said, "I love it! Wow! This is a super-hot look for you! Now I'm gonna have to change myself up too!"
"Nah," he said, "I think you should keep this look for a little bit longer. You know I think it looks good on you, 'surfer boi,'"
"Like, totally, dude," I said with a smile.
"Well I got a few more little things I wanted to finish up," he said, "Like maybe add a few more tattoos and stuff, but I'll be out in a sec. And then we're still on for goin' out tonight, right?"
"Oh, for sure!" I said, "But hurry up -- I can't wait to take my new Texas stud out to the club!"
