Sam was a decent looking young man with a quick wit, above average intelligence, and a generous heart. Unfortunately instead of appreciating what he had, he instead concentrated only on what he perceived to be his faults: he was too short, not muscular enough, not rugged enough, and the list went on and on. In short, he thought any man alive was better than him.
If he could he would have given everything to be any man but who he was. And so he would go to sleep at night always dreaming of men he envied, of men he yearned to be and always destined to be disappointed that his dreams would not come true.
Morning always came but bright sunshine neither penetrated into the darkness of his room nor indeed into his very soul. He isolated himself in the darkness, never feeling worthy enough to face the world outside. So, obsessed with his shortcomings, he was a tortured soul living in the agony of a self-made purgatory, always comparing himself to the models, movie stars, and muscled men he worshipped from afar.
Thus it was he awoke one morning expecting the day to be no different from the hundreds that had been lost and those yet to come. But something was different this time. When he stepped into the shower he couldn’t feel the water on his skin and when he looked down at his feet they appeared to be melting. His body was rapidly becoming soft and gooey until finally only his head remained sitting atop a pillar of mush. Quite horrified, he watched his feet reform and solidify but not into the ones he recognized as his own. These feet were larger and dusted in light blonde hair, hair that travelled up his newly forming legs. A sensitive manhood erupted from the mush, sending Sam into such euphoria as he had never experienced before and finally ending in a release so intense that he blacked out, water continuing to wash over him. He awoke to find himself still in the shower but no longer in the bathroom he recognized as his own. He thought he was just hallucinating until he looked down at himself. He shut off the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist, quickly stepping out to look in the mirror.
“No fucking way!” he said in a voice he didn’t recognize. A complete stranger was staring back at him yet the reflection mimicked his every move as he ran his hands along the length of his body from head to toe. His now hairless torso had reformed with stunning abs and nicely defined pecs while muscled guns had emerged to give him the look of someone who works out at the gym a few times a week to maintain a nicely sculpted lithe body. And his eyes were the bluest shade he had ever seen, complimenting his now blonde head of hair perfectly. He lost track of time staring at himself in that mirror until finally he was brought out of his reverie by the noise coming in from a window. But how could that be? He had no window in his room. Puzzled, he grabbed a shirt and pants he found lying nearby. They certainly weren’t his yet when he put them on they fit, albeit a lot tighter than he normally wore his clothes and obviously meant to showcase a stunning physique. Scared and yet fascinated by the sudden change he had undergone, Sam found himself walking forward to the adjoining bedroom, moving as if some unseen puppeteer was pulling his strings.
Another surprise awaited him in his room. The entire décor had changed from a dark hideaway to a light open room whose occupant had no need to hide from the world. And the clothes normally strewn around the room were nowhere to be seen. Curious, he went to the closet to find it was now filled with very stylish (and expensive) clothing the likes of which Sam would never have been caught dead in. Everything about him physically was so different but mentally he was the same old Sam, still unsure of himself and not yet accepting that he now was packaged like the men he envied so much.
His body was demanding food so he made his way to the kitchen. A strange chirping sound interrupted as he was completing a far more healthy meal than he had ever eaten in his life. He searched the room until he came upon the source of the noise: a cell phone. There was a text reminder:
Shoot today at 2 o’clock at Ransom Park. Be there by 11am.
He knew Ransom Park but what was the shoot? It was 9 now so he had two hours to figure out what he was supposedly doing today, not that he really wanted to go anywhere other than to hide. He was terrified what the outside world would present to him but if he had a commitment, so be it. He made his way back upstairs to get some different clothes on.
“Looking pretty good there stud.” He said to himself sarcastically as he glanced in the mirror. Yes he really did look the part of a sexy guy but he sure didn’t see himself that way. He knew he wasn’t far from Ransom Park so he decided to walk there. Along the way people would stop to stare at him which made him all the more uncomfortable. Deep down he knew he should be flattered but he had never had the experience of being envied before.
There were a massive number of people, trucks, and cameras when he arrived at the park. As he entered a young lady came over to greet him. She obviously knew him but he still had no idea what was going on.
“Good you made it on time Sam. Come with me. We have to get you ready.” The people at the shoot fawned over him, rushing him into makeup and generally treating him like a VIP. Then they showed him the clothes they wanted him to wear. His heart nearly leapt from his throat when he saw the leather pants, tall leather boots, and a billowy white shirt. He, mousy little Sam, dressed up like some medieval Casanova? He balked at putting the clothes on until finally another lady came over to help him get dressed, starting by taking his shirt off. Eventually he found himself clad in garments fit for a prince. The tight leather pants left little to the imagination and the shirt was so soft on his skin. He turned to look in a nearby mirror, his mouth gaping at the reflection. That was him, Sam, looking like someone’s Prince Charming. He was deadly handsome and sexy!
He was ushered before the cameras where a photographer instructed him on the poses he wanted. Sam gulped, seriously wondering if he was going to be able to do the shoot but from somewhere inside himself came the knowledge and confidence he needed.
People were ogling him as he posed for picture after picture. He was flattered from all the attention and he found he loved showing off his body, instinctively knowing exactly how to flaunt his assets well. He wasn’t even bothered when they had him remove his shirt, exposing the fabulous torso he possessed. But as it got later and he tired, a small voice in his head asserted itself, nagging at him. He became anxious for the shoot to be over, waiting for the inevitable disaster he was sure was going to occur. He was so worn out from the work and the worry by the time he returned home that he went to bed and fell into a deep sleep.
There was a knocking on his door. Startled, he awoke to find a stranger standing over him.
“Hey bud. About time you woke up.” That voice. It sounded somehow familiar. Did he know this person? Then it came to him. This was Chris, who lived with him in his house. They had known each other since childhood; knew each other’s secrets. Chris didn’t act at all surprised when a very naked Sam got out of bed. “Still on for catching some waves?”
Sam was feeling great. The rest must have done him good, must have been exactly what he needed. He hadn’t felt like himself yesterday for some reason but now he was ready to go.
“Sure bro. Wait while I change.” With no hesitation whatsoever he donned a swimsuit followed by a skintight wet suit that he left unzipped above his abs. The gear felt natural and reassuring to him. The two went downstairs, grabbing their boards as they headed to their day at the beach.
Now confident in himself, Sam relished the people obviously watching him and his equally hunky friend make their way to the water. While he still didn’t have all the pieces of his new life in place yet, they were slowly coming to him, making him complete. As he emerged from the water with the sun shining upon his tousled golden hair he looked like a young sea god gracing the land dwelling mortals with his heavenly presence. Gone were the old insecurities.
One night a few weeks later as he was preparing to attend a big celebration in his honor for winning a top model award, Sam stopped to think of all that had happened in such a short time. Adjusting his tux in the mirror he thought about the life that seemed so far behind him and how much he appreciated all he now had. He was an intelligent good looking young man with a bright future before him. He had a throng of admirers wherever he went and he never lacked for companionship. Chris was constantly at his side, encouraging him and helping him through any rough times he might encounter. Sam had learned to like himself. What more could he want? Chris came into the room, interrupting his introspection.
“Looking good there Sammy boy.”
“Right back at ya C-man.” The two of them could make the best looking men jealous. And so the two went to the ball… er, party. Would they live happily ever after? Careful the wish you make…
Nicely done bill :-)
