Seanday Shorts: Better Red, than Black

It showed no remorse after discarding its last victim, it oozed out of the construction workers mouth, a viscous slime so dark no light escaped its surface. As the last of the substance vacated its host, the shell of the once powerful man crumbled into dust leaving only a pile of dirty, oily work clothes that reeked of hard work.

The slime was a hunter, but not of this world. It would capture, and consume, disguising itself as its victim. It would live the hosts life undetected until it felt the hunger again, then it would reap another.

He was a big man--the construction worker, a veritable feast, it could easily stayed within the workers husk for another few months, but his life and routine was mundane. Although it didn't need to feed, it wanted stimulation.

Darkness of the evening shrouded the ooze as it headed for the nearest house. Keeping to the shadows it discovered a side door and slipped inside. It recognised it as a kitchen, and slithered up a wall to a higher vantage point. There were noises from elsewhere in the house--a tv, voices.

The slime migrated to the ceiling, adhering easily to its surface. Below the door opened and someone walked in, a teenager. The creature studied it for a moment; possibly 5'6", a small stature, but he had a stocky strong build. This would normally be rejected by the slime as he was far too small to provide any long-term sustenance, but it's previous meal will be sufficient to last more than a few months.

With its decision made it dropped from the ceiling onto the teenagers head. Smothering its victims face and head eliminated any chance of calling for help. The ooze tightened around the youth's head showing his features in dark relief, his silent screams easily visible through the skin tight, black covering.

The youth pulled at the alien creature covering his face, for a moment he was able to pull a section free which gave him the chance to gulp a few breaths. The ooze reasserted its dominance, as it spread down his neck and under his red t-shirt. Just moments later it was covering his flailing arms in a dark slick surface. Once covered he stopped, although staggering his arms and upper torso where locked into place. His biceps could be seen to strain as he tried to move.

There was a noise, outside the door. The youth, froze--not by choice as the ooze flowed across the remainder of his body. The black matt covering shifted in colour, emulating the youths skin, hair and features. The deception was near perfect apart from the muscles in his biceps clearly struggling, and the teenagers real face twisting and screaming in frustration below the fake calm exterior.

The noise passed, and the colour faded to its original black. The victim was forced to the ground, and his head pushed back. The mass around his head thickened and struggling began to subside. Without oxygen, all the mammals the creature--even the largest--would become weakened. The ooze forced open the youths mouth, and started to push inside. Where it covered his body, it receded collecting on his chest causing the t-shirt to tighten and move.

It pulled at his mouth, stretching it wide as the ooze migrated from under the t-shirt and into its victim. With a final flick the last of the alien disappeared inside.

The teen laid still, then limb by limb the creature seized control, finally moving up the back of his head and leaching into his skull and brain.

He blinked and got to his feet, this was Ryan. The creature had all it needed; it wasn't hungry--at least not yet, it just wanted to have some fun. This appeared to be the perfect vessel.

"Hey Bro' you got those beers?" Came a shout. The creature knew this to be Ryan's best friend. He reached for the fridge and grabbed some beers and left the kitchen.

If it got bored in Rayan, there was always Brad, it thought to itself.
