A day at the beach developed into a life at the beach and today now that I have finally left I have decided to tell my story.
50 years ago I was a successful business man, on the bottom rung of management but I had my life ahead of me at only 25. I was fit and healthy and had the world at my oyster. That was until my body and life was taken away from me. I was given a brand new body and life and for most of my 50 years as Jay I had loved every minute. As Jay I was immortal. I did not age, I could not get hurt. I could do whatever I wanted to my body and the worst I would suffer was a small cut that would heal within minutes. I could eat or drink as much as I wanted and my body would not change. There was no point going to a gym as if i had of gained any more muscle, it would of been taken away from me. I didn't need any more muscle anyway. I was almost perfect. I lived with my family who also had the same fate in a caravan by the beach. We ran a very successful fair with go carts, crazy golf, dodgems, roller coasters and merry go rounds. I was 19 and had been 19 for 50 years. I suppose the closest comparison I could make was the life of a gypsy traveller. Living in caravans at the back of the fair. Except we never travelled. The fair had fortune tellers, popcorn stands and hot dog counters. Life was bliss; I didn't need or want a thing. Everything I needed was right here. That was until I got bored, strangely around a month before I was hitting my 50th anniversary as Jay.
Until now I couldn't figure out how I had been swapped into Jay. At first I had spent months trying to figure it out until I learned that life the way I was would be fantastic. The knowledge had been denied to me until my 50th anniversary as Jay. I could choose to ignore my new found knowledge or use it to swap into anyone I chose and begin a new mortal life.
The key to swapping was a skull and cross-bone necklace around my neck and a pirate statue which had no face. It was one of those things where you stand behind it and take your own snap with your face as a pirate. All I needed to do was take my necklace off and put it around the neck of the statue. I then needed to take a picture of the person I wanted to become as he or she was stood behind the statue.
The necklace was special to me and I had never taken it off during my entire time as Jay, it was at least 50 years old- it had to be at least that old I had always owned it. It still looked pristine. I was very reluctant to take it off. I didn't know why my bond was so strong with this inanimate object, but it was precious to me. I was considering giving it up. I would also have to give up an almost perfect body, an amazing life beside the beach as well as immortality and then also begin a brand new life plus giving up my precious necklace. Could I do it??
I only had a week to decide before my knowledge would once again be forgotten for another 50 years. I decided to only go for it if the right person came along. I had set myself a few stipulations. After all I was about to consider taking on a new life that I knew nothing about and a body that could of been near death or have any number of things wrong with it.
1. It had to be a man
2. He had to be under 25
3. He had to be over 18
4. He had to look good, i.e not over weight.
5. He had to have no children
6. I'd prefer someone who had his own place to live
7. He had to be with a group of friends who appeared to get on with him
8. He had to have tattoos
I didn't consider that to be a lot to ask considering what i was giving up and giving him.
It was Saturday evening and I had to make a move before midnight. I had seen someone who I liked the look of and had seen he was the type of guy I was looking to be. I watched as he was the centre of attention, he seemed to have all the attributes that i had wanted. So I placed my necklace around the neck of the pirate statue. It locked its self in place with a magical glow in a groove that had always been on its neck.
After their race around the go cart track I invited the group of lads around the statue. I ensured that the one I wanted to be was in the centre position with his face in the gap for the pirates face. I took the pic and watched as the necklace began to glow again and then disappear. It reformed its self around the neck of the guy I had picked. At that point we were all then frozen still.
I watched in ore as my clothes disappeared, as well as the guy behind the statue. The glow from the necklace spread around our bodies. It replaced each body part one by one. Our toe nails, toes, feet, ankles, legs, middle region, torso, arms, hands, fingers and heads all swapped places in moments. It wasn't long before my body had been entirely replaced by his and the clothes he was previously wearing appeared around my new body. Tattoos appeared on my new legs, my chest and arms. Hairs grew on my chest, which was again something i was not used too. New memories flooded my head as I became Scott and he became Jay.
He was now stood behind the statue, with my body, I was stood taking the picture with his body. His mates all laughed it off and assumed that some kind of gypsy magic had swapped our positions. He, on the other hand knew exactly what had happened and questioned me. I entertained him after hours and tried to swap back, but now I was Scott. I only had one week of holiday left so there wasn't long left to try swapping back. He was denied the knowledge of how to swap back. It was inevitable that he had to accept who he now was and the fate I had now given him. I of course denied all knowledge of how or why it had happened. He wasn't happy at first but as he learned what I had given him he began to enjoy it.
I on the other hand had a new body to explore. New friends to discover and a new life to learn, and of course I was no longer immortal. I could finally feel pain. I was able to age. This was going to be immense. And if I didn't like it, I could always tell the new Jay how to swap back or maybe even force him to swap back? Maybe i will return Scott's body in a few years when its much older. At age 20 now, maybe he would enjoy in in 30 years time when he would be 50? That would be good, I could enjoy life for a few years, then return to my gypsy life for another 50 years, then enjoy someone else's life..
There was one thing I could never work out though... Jays family always seemed the same, they all wore the same necklace and were immortal just like jay. So every 50 years they must learn the same thing I did. So why did they never swap??? Or did they? Did i ever have the same family?
Good job, Gary. Different type of concept. Going to continue with it?
