Ching! The alert came through on my phone, I checked it out and squirmed. It was another selfie from Dominic.
He was a popular kid--far too popular. It's like he was able to steal charisma, sucking it out of people around him. Life friends, would drift over to him; like a moth to a light.
Somehow I'd become immune to his powers, it repulsed me when he was close. His eyes would flick over when we passed, perhaps it was a curious fascination. Was it the subtle lick of the lip when he saw me, the idea of wanting something forbidden--me.
He was my neighbour, still living with his wealthy parents. I looked at the selfie again, it was different this time. His friends that normally surround him were gone. Like he was trying to reach out to me--I shuddered.
Outside I could see the drive was empty, his parents were out--he was alone in the house. I picked up the small vial of liquid and held it up to the light, its azure hue casting shards of light against the wall. Without a thought I filled a syringe, tapping the bubbles free. I hated Dominic Jones so much.
I left my house, for the last time. I'd never be able to return to my life once I started this gruesome journey. Pulling the door closed, I touched its cool hard surface and wondered if I was doing this for all his friends or for myself.
Knocking on his door I waited, he answered looked at me and half smiled. He stood there for a moment, his hand absent-mindedly cupping and stroking his pec.
The vision in front of me; his toned torso, handsome face, dressed in sweat pants, and a sleeveless top. He resettled his cap taking the opportunity to flex his biceps. His eyes sparkled, and he flicked his expressive eyebrows. "Like what you see?"
Something retched inside me, I hated him more than ever now. "Come in, let's get to know each other," he grinned.
He turned, and I followed him. Across the threshold I didn't wait, I jabbed the needle into his neck and caught him as he crumpled.
Searching the house I found his room, and carried him through; already he was lighter. I removed his clothes, and then my own.
Dominic Jones; one of the most popular kids at high school. A reflection caught my eye in a mirror, and I saw myself; a thirty-two year old, lean and toned. I rubbed at my beard, knew I was going to miss it.
I laid a hand on Dominic's chest pushing it gently, a gasp of air escaped his lips as his body slowly deflated.
I was going to become Dominic Jones; the person I hated the most. Take his popularity, his charisma, and my friends.
Stretching open his mouth, I plunged my legs down his throat. The nineteen year olds body; my nemesis buckled and writhed as it tried to spurn the invasion. Pushing and kicking I worked myself deeper inside the teenager.
His mouth, my only route into Dominic binds my waist as I ease more of myself inside. With the feeling of rejection long surpassed, there was only eagerness to be complete as his skin swallowed me up.
Arms and shoulders find their way into Dominic's. My reflection, my transformation, his gaping mouth around my throat. From the neck down the same sculptured torso I'd seen earlier--was mine.
I took a breath, slipping his face over mine knowing it would give me all his secrets. I'd understand how he was able to charm my friends, what tricks he uses on people to be so popular.
Smiling I pulled his face over my own; darkness swallowed my mind. I shivered, and blinked slowly. Dominic looked back at me from the mirror, and I felt a hardness coarse through me. My eyebrow flicked appreciatively, as I mimicked Dominic's gesture of cupping my pec. I squeezed the firm meat in my hand and waited for the rush of memories, soon his memories would be mine.
Then it hit me; a tidal wave of memories and experiences. His friends, his life--
I searched his memories again, and shock my head. NO! This isn't right. There were no secret techniques, no magical way to steal friends away or a way to suck charisma Out of others.
Slumping on the bed, I looked at my strong hands. There was nothing special about Dominic Jones, he was just a nice guy. I retched again, although this time it felt different. I'd taken the life of Jones, stolen it for myself--a sinkhole of guilt swallowed me.
A shout echoed through the house. "Dom, we're back. You friend Jack is here, shall I send him up?" It was his mom.
I quickly reviewed my nakedness. "No--" It was Dominic's voice. "I'll be down in a minute," I shouted.
Picking through the discarded clothes I pulled on his sweats, shirtless top and slipped on his cap. I picked up the expensive watch and snapped it on my wrist. "You there bro?" It was Jack calling up the stairs.
"Yeah, wait there, just coming bro." I picked up the phone, with my old life gone there was nothing more I could do but be a nineteen year old again. The guilt of what I'd done coiled around my mind and squeezed. I bit my lip and furtively glanced at my reflection. "Fuck it, I can do this," I grinned and went to met Jack.
Well done, Sean! Great to have you write another story!
ReplyDeleteThanks, just a quick one while I outline the next chapter to Book of Masks over at writing.com.
ReplyDeleteJust finished chapters 30/31

I'm a little confused with this one... Why does a 32 year old hang out with the same people as a 19 year old?
ReplyDeleteGood catch, problem when you write a story off the top of your head.
ReplyDeleteHow about he's the coach of team, and his 'friends' aren't real friends just the guys he's coaching. It's why they all go with Dominic, and he just can't see that.
Jealously can blind people you know, but guilt runs deeper.
You gonna let me get away with that?
Cool story. Terrible to have to be a nineteen year old stud.
ReplyDeleteYeah. That's cool lol. I had kinda written a little explanation in my head even though it doesn't quite work given the guilt he expressed after taking one persons life... The boy actually made a man- the 19 year olds neighbor- into a body suit to get closer so he could finally make his move.
ReplyDeleteI'd never even heard of writing.com yesterday, but today I plowed through all of your posts over there. The story is fascinating -- did it come before or after "The Other Mitchell"? They're clearly very similar. The concept is amazing and really hot. I am super-excited to see where you go with the story, though I admit to having difficulty keeping the two branches straight in my mind at this point.
ReplyDeleteSide note: any plans to end up with a non-straight character in there?
Thanks for the comment. I started The Book of Masks side about two years ago, "The Other Mitchell" only last year. Yes there are strong parallels and I enjoy writing BoM chapter so I wanted to bring that over to the blog. I tentatively included some aspects in "The Chain Letter" series, but really brought it home with tOM but in a bodysuit scenario.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy them, there are over a 1,000 chapters in BoM written by just a handful of authors. You'll find all types of 'interaction' over there including M-F, F-F, and various combinations of non-straight action.
There's a lot to work through, but it's worth the effort.
Nice job, Sean! =) Glad to see your stories again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Curious
